Post Bariatric Plastic Surgery
There are many operations available to post bariatric patients, including tummy tucks and/or apron removal (panniculectomy), arm lifts, thigh lifts, breast reductions, lower body lifts, buttock lifts, and facelifts just to name a few. The important thing to remember is that you must be stable in your weight loss, have any medical issues under control, and have a sound nutritional status prior to surgery. This usually occurs about 18 months after your bariatric surgery.
It is important to set realistic goals about what can be achieved and the timing involved. Everything cannot be done at once, so it is critical to develop a game plan that is sensitive to your wants and desires, but maintains a good surgical decision-making process. When plans include decisions about health, expected outcome, affects on family and significant others, and financial concerns, the results can be extremely rewarding. We encourage you to gather as much information as possible as you plan this important step in your life.
